Receiving and treating injured patients is the driving force of every Nurse. But what if those patients are soldiers? And what if your workplace is not a regular hospital, but a military field hospital or mobile aid post team? With the Army, we train you to become a Junior Officer Military Nurse, after which you can start immediately and lead your own staff. Does this sound like the challenge for you? What you will do

As a Junior Officer Military Nurse in the Army, you will become part of the extensive medical service within the Ministry of Defence. You will be the right-hand person of a military doctor and will work as a nurse and manager. You will work in a military (field) hospital or (mobile) aid post team and manage a team of four others. Additionally, you will give lessons to your own staff. A varied and challenging job, because during exercises and deployments you have fewer diagnostic possibilities than under normal circumstances.

• Challenge: during exercises and deployments, you have fewer diagnostic possibilities than under normal circumstances.

Note: there are multiple start dates throughout the year. After applying, you will receive a personal application file containing a call-up date. Please note: this is a fictional date and therefore incorrect. The start date you are eligible for will only be determined later. This depends, among other things, on the results of the psychological examination, the medical examination, and the security investigation, which are part of the application process. Once all these parts have been successfully completed, your start date will be discussed and confirmed.

Where you will work

You will be stationed at one of the Army units in the Netherlands. You will participate in exercises and you must take into account that you may be deployed abroad.

Before you start working, you will first complete the Junior Officer Training at the Royal Military School in Ermelo, where you will learn all basic military skills, such as map reading and military first aid. Your training will be completed with a Vocational Technical Training (VTO) at the Defence Healthcare Training and Education Centre in Hilversum. After successfully completing your training, you will immediately begin your career as a Junior Officer Military Nurse.

The Royal Netherlands Army takes your placement preference into account, but may deviate from the initial placement preference for organizational reasons. The Royal Netherlands Army will inform you about your actual placement during the Vocational Technical Training.
