Do you have an MBO 4 or HBO Nursing diploma and want to get the most out of your medical career? Through the training to become a Non-Commissioned Officer Military Nurse, you and the medical caregivers you manage will provide the best medical care to Defense personnel.

This is what you will do

At Defense, we want to offer every employee the best medical care. That is why we have an extensive medical service with our own (dental) doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, and pharmacists. As a Non-Commissioned Officer General Military Nurse (AMV) in the Air Force, you are both a nurse and a manager. This can be in a casualty staging unit (CSU) that receives, stabilizes, and prepares patients for transport. Or within an aeromedical evacuation team where doctors and nurses provide air transport for patients. But also in the Netherlands at the health centers where we provide care to military patients. Or at our own training and education center where you contribute to training and keeping your colleagues in medical care defense-wide. In many of these roles, you will work closely with officer doctors and have management responsibilities towards the medical caregivers. During your application and training, you can indicate a preference for an initial position or work location.

This is where you will work

As a general military nurse in the Air Force, after your training, you will be assigned to one of the following units and/or locations:

• Operational Healthcare (OGZ) of the Center for Man and Aviation (CML). Location Rijen. The OGZ (Role1) provides operational support for CLSK operations with a casualty staging unit (CSU) or Role 1. You will perform activities in the CSU and Role 1 and will be deployed for other medical tasks. The OGZ also provides aeromedical evacuation (AE). However, the AE flight nurse positions are not entry-level positions. It is a career training and position for which you can opt internally once you have gained sufficient military medical experience, perform well, and are found to be medically suitable for it. With sufficient prior knowledge and extensive relevant hospital experience, the choice can be made to select and approve you directly for AE. An internal selection, carried out by the professional group advisor and the AE section head, is part of the selection process. An aviation medical examination, at the Center for Man and Aviation of the Air Force in Soesterberg, will then be part of the medical examination.
• 400 Medical Battalion. Location Ermelo. This battalion provides medical care for the entire armed forces. With high-quality mobile hospitals, they are capable of delivering all forms of care in the highest spectrum of violence, such as surgical capacity and intensive care. They can also deploy Casualty Staging Units (CSU) and a small mobile or extensive Role 2 in support. 400 GNK is a so-called 'joint' unit. This means that military personnel from different operational commands work there. There is also personnel exchange with civilian partner hospitals.
• Defense Healthcare Training and Education Center (DGOTC). Location Hilversum. The DGOTC provides education, training, and knowledge products in the field of operational and military healthcare. After your AMV training, you can start here as a junior instructor. You will train your colleagues based on realistic practical cases, both at the DGOTC and at the workplace.
• First-line healthcare company (EGB). Locations: Rijen, Woensdrecht, Volkel, Leeuwarden, Utrecht. The EGB is responsible for providing preventive, curative, and parts of occupational healthcare to military personnel in non-operational circumstances. At the health centers, military personnel can make appointments with a doctor, and you, as an AMV, will support the general practitioner, company doctor, and General Military Doctor (AMA) together with the medical assistant. You will also work with physiotherapists, POH SOM, POH GGZ, and the occupational health nurse.
