What you will do

As a Junior Officer Mechanics NH90 B1 in the Royal Netherlands Navy, you and your team will tackle the most diverse technical challenges. You will maintain the most diverse systems of the maritime (combat) helicopter NH90. Think of planned maintenance, but also troubleshooting issues with, for example, the fly-by-wire control system, the surveillance radar, or the sonar system for submarine detection. The NH90 operates largely from our naval ships. As a maintenance mechanic B1, you will therefore regularly work from a ship and, as part of the NH90 maintenance team, you will be a member of the ship's crew. You will also often be working on maintenance in the hangar at a military airfield in the Netherlands or abroad. In short; a dynamic workplace where you can also see a lot of the world.

Where you will work

With the NH90 maintenance team, you will work alternately on board a naval ship and at a military airfield. Before you can start working, you will first complete the initial training at the School for Maritime Training and Business Operations Education in Den Helder. After this, you will complete a short Initial Function Training on the NH90. Additionally, you will continue to study during certain periods and follow (if you don't have them yet) the necessary B parts (to technician B1) and possibly the type-specific training for the NH90. After passing the proficiency test, you will receive an official Military Aircraft Maintenance Certificate from the Military Aviation Authority, fully in accordance with part-66.

Defense also uses the aircraft as a transport helicopter over land or from amphibious transport ships and the Joint Logistic Support Ship Karel Doorman.
