Then the role of Junior Officer Material Manager is for you. As a Junior Officer Material Manager, you will lead a group of military personnel responsible for warehouse management and the provision of goods and materiel.

Note: If you are hired for this position, you will be appointed by the Ministry of Defence with the job title 'Junior Officer Material Manager'.

This is what you will do

Food, fuel, and ammunition are indispensable during missions and exercises. The Logistics Service of the Army is responsible for the storage, management, transport, and distribution of important goods and materials, as well as for the repair of materiel and equipment, providing medical care, and managing administration.

As a Junior Officer Material Manager, you will work within this Logistics Service, where you will be trained to become a supervisor of a group of military personnel. You will collect information, process it, test its usability, and then store it. You will perform all this administration in the SAP program. You will check the received goods against the ordered quantity, update everything in SAP, and report any discrepancies. And if a combat unit needs extra physical resources, you will make that happen by requesting and supervising external physical distribution resources. As a Junior Officer Material Manager, you will always keep a close eye on the progress of the processes.

To prepare you for your work as a Junior Officer Material Manager, you will first start with the Basic Training of the Royal Netherlands Army (BOKL) of 10 weeks at the Royal Military School in Ermelo. During the training, you will learn the basics of all military skills. You will continue your training at the KMS in Ermelo with 10 weeks of General Officer Training (AKO), where you will learn leadership, command (how do you translate an order to your group?), and teaching. After the AKO, there will be another 15 weeks of General Officer Development (AKV) where you will put all the covered topics into practice. Finally, you will follow the vocational technical training (VTO) at the Logistics Training Centre. The VTO Logistics lasts approximately 25 weeks. In total, your training will last about one and a half years. Once you start working at the Logistics Service, you will also attend various training courses and refresher courses to further expand your knowledge.

Note: with an MBO 3 diploma, you can be trained as a squad leader in the lower ranks of the Army. You will be made proficient for your first position and will enter a phased career. This means that without further development, you can fulfill positions that are phased within your branch or service in the lower ranks. If you want to progress to the next position within this phased career, additional internal vocational training is required. If you have the ambition to progress further towards a regular career, with opportunities for development towards adjutant? Then you can further develop and train yourself internally over the years and opt for entry into a regular career within the Army.

Please note: this division is generic. Additional requirements may apply depending on your choice of weapon or service branch.

If you possess a VMBO GL/TL diploma, an MBO 4 diploma, or a transition certificate from HAVO 4 to 5? Then you can also start directly with the training for a regular career. This training is more extensive than the phased variant. You will also start as a squad leader in the lower ranks, but due to the broader training, you will also be deployable in positions designated for a regular career. You will therefore already meet the requirements for progression to the upper ranks. By following career training courses and any vocational refresher training, you can then relatively easily make the step to the upper ranks.

This is where you will work

As a Junior Officer Material Manager, you will work within the Royal Netherlands Army Command (CLAS). The CLAS is responsible for training military personnel and units, making and keeping the equipment of the units deployable, and personnel care. The Logistics Service is part of the CLAS and provides combat support to the brigade. As a Junior Officer Material Manager, you will have the opportunity to work at various locations in the Netherlands.

The Royal Netherlands Army will take your placement preference into account, but may deviate from the initial placement preference for organizational reasons. The Royal Netherlands Army will inform you about your actual placement during the Vocational Technical Training.
