Introductory Text

Are you someone who likes to push your limits but also takes responsibility? Do you also have (almost) your MBO 4 or HAVO diploma in your pocket? Then the Junior Officer position in the Marine Corps is for you! As a junior officer, you lead a group of marines who are ready to go to the extreme. You take on the role of tactical leader and always lead the way into battle!

What you will do

As a Junior Officer in the Marine Corps, you participate in international peacekeeping operations of NATO and the United Nations. Anti-terrorism operations, humanitarian operations, assistance, and disaster relief are also part of your tasks. You can be deployed anywhere in the world within 48 hours. You also contribute to the defense of the Caribbean part of the Kingdom.

You must be physically and mentally ready for deployment at all times. Sometimes you lead the group, sometimes you support the leadership. You are the link between the enlisted men and the officers and ensure that assignments are carried out efficiently.

Please note: There are multiple enlistment dates (start dates) per year. In principle, you start at the earliest possible enlistment. Whether this is possible depends, among other things, on the fitness test, the introductory day, the result of the psychological examination, the medical examination, and the security screening. As soon as all parts of the application process have been successfully completed, the start date will be discussed and confirmed with you.

Where you will work

First, you will follow the Marine Training, a 24-week program in Rotterdam. During this training, various exercises are covered, including shooting training, basic helicopter training, amphibious skills, field exercises, and a three-week mountain training abroad. After successfully completing this 24-week Marine Training, you will start the MARSOC Operator Course of 16 weeks.

Then you will go to the operational units of the Marine Corps for an internship. This internship period lasts 3 to 12 months, during which you gain practical experience in the operational field.

After the internship, you will follow the corporal training of 16 weeks, followed by a specialization training.

Subsequently, you will be placed as a corporal with the operational Recce & Strike Teams of the Marine Corps.
