As a Junior Officer Infantry in the Air Assault Brigade, you will become a craftsman, leader, and instructor. In your first assignment, you can already start working as a leader of your own group of infantrymen!

What you will do

The Air Assault Brigade is a rapidly deployable unit that can be on-site anywhere in the world within 20 days to provide assistance or combat conflict. Helicopters guarantee the Air Assault Brigade rapid troop deployment and also ensure the transport of weapons, materiel, food, and other supplies.

The infantry of the Army is formed by soldiers who conduct ground combat. For this, infantrymen are equipped with automatic and semi-automatic small arms, mortars, and anti-tank weapons. In addition, the infantry has advanced communication and laser equipment and all sorts of night vision equipment.

As a Junior Officer Infantry Air Assault, you will lead a group of eight people. The infantrymen are equipped with very modern materiel to conduct ground combat. Operations are often carried out in a team setting. As a junior officer, you are the expert regarding all means and capabilities of your group. You can not only operate the materiel present within the group but also train your people so that they can also operate the systems.

Where you will work

11 Infantry Battalion Garde Grenadiers and Jagers, at 12 Infantry Battalion Regiment Van Heutsz in Schaarsbergen or at 13 Infantry Battalion Regiment Stoottroepen Prins Bernhard in Assen of 11 Air Assault Brigade in Schaarsbergen. Depending on your preference and the availability within the organization, you will work at the Air Assault Brigade in Schaarsbergen or Assen.

After entering service, you will first follow the Junior Officer Training at the Royal Military School in Ermelo, (Assen, Schaarsbergen, Oirschot) where you will learn all basic military skills. This training lasts 42 weeks. After completion, you will start with the technical training (VTO) at the Maneuver School in Amersfoort; the training takes place in Schaarsbergen. This training lasts 38 weeks. If you do not yet possess a driver's license, you will additionally follow the driver's training at the Driver Training and Education Center in Oirschot.

As a Soldier, you will participate in various exercises. Additionally, you must take into account that, like every Soldier, you may be deployed abroad.

The Royal Land Army will take your placement preference into account, but may deviate from the initial placement preference for organizational reasons. The Royal Land Army will inform you about your actual placement during the Technical Training.
