As a Junior Officer Air Mobile Combat Support Engineer at the Engineers, you are the indispensable link in conflicts and peacekeeping operations. This is what you will do

The Engineers – also known as the construction company of the Army – are broadly deployable. In addition to laying and clearing mines, they are also involved in constructing and demolishing bridges, roads, and airfields. They also build shelters, observation posts, and combat positions. All this is done with the aim of delaying the advancing enemy and undoing the work of the enemy Engineers. Furthermore, the Engineers perform decontamination work in the field of Chemical, Biological, Radiological, or Nuclear (CBRN) substances.

As a Junior Officer Air Mobile Combat Support Engineer, you will lead a group of approximately ten soldiers. You are responsible for the proficiency and readiness of your people, and you provide their training and education in individual military skills. Your group supports combat units during battle by making and keeping the terrain passable. At the same time, you try to make the terrain difficult for the enemy to traverse, for example by creating obstacles.

Please note: There are multiple start dates (commencement dates) per year. The commencement date you are eligible for will be determined later. This depends on, among other things, the psychological examination, the medical examination, and the security screening. As soon as all parts of the application process have been successfully completed, the start date will be discussed and confirmed with you.

This is where you will work

You will work at the Engineers unit of the 11 Air Mobile Brigade in Schaarsbergen. The Air Mobile Brigade is a rapidly deployable unit that can be on location anywhere in the world within 20 days for, among other things, the defense of its own territory, disaster relief, and providing humanitarian aid.

After entering service, you will first follow the Junior Officer training at the Royal Military School in Ermelo, where you will learn all basic military skills. After completion, you will start the specialized training at the Defence Training and Education Centre Engineers in Vught. If you do not yet possess a driver's license, you will additionally follow the driver training at the Driver Training and Education Centre in Oirschot. Once you have earned your red beret, you can start working at the Engineers unit.

As a soldier, you will participate in various exercises. Furthermore, please take into account that, like any soldier, you may be deployed on missions.

The Royal Netherlands Army takes your placement preference into account, but may deviate from the initial placement preference for organizational reasons. The Royal Netherlands Army will inform you about your actual placement during the Specialized Technical Training.
