Job description
Introduction
Are you interested in technology? And do you have (almost) a VMBO TL/GL, HAVO, or VWO diploma? Then apply for a job with the most versatile part of the Army: the Engineer Corps. As a Non-Commissioned Officer Chemical Agents Engineer, you are the expert in the field of chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear substances (abbreviated: CBRN).
Note: Do you possess an MBO 3 diploma and want to develop yourself step-by-step within the non-commissioned officer domain of the Army? This is now possible.
What you will do
The Engineer Corps is the "construction company" of the Army and is involved in tasks such as laying and clearing mines, building or destroying infrastructure, and delaying the enemy. The Engineer Corps also carries out decontamination operations in cases of chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) contamination.
As a Non-Commissioned Officer Chemical Agents Engineer, you will lead a team that carries out such CBRN decontaminations on people, vehicles, and terrain. You ensure that the work is done safely and correctly, monitor its execution, and maintain the equipment together with your team. Furthermore, you are responsible for the training, education, and deployability of your personnel.
ADVANTAGES OF THIS FUNCTION
- Salary: your gross base salary, plus allowances and our favorable travel expenses, pension, and healthcare benefits, will result in a pleasant net surprise.
- Work atmosphere: nowhere else will you be part of such a close-knit team of colleagues as in the Defense organization.
- Challenge: you will ensure everything works in very diverse circumstances and sometimes with limited resources.
Note: with an MBO 3 diploma, you can be trained as a squad leader in the lower tier of the Army. You will be made proficient for your first role and will enter a phased career. This means that, without further development, you can perform roles that are phased-labeled within your arm of service or service branch in the lower tier. If you wish to progress to the next role within this phased career, additional internal technical training is required.
If you have the ambition to progress further towards a regular career, with opportunities for development towards adjutant? Then you can develop and train yourself internally over the years and opt for entry into a regular career within the Army.
Please note: this classification is generic. Additional requirements may apply depending on your choice of arm of service or service branch.
If you possess a VMBO GL/TL diploma, an MBO 4 diploma, or a transfer certificate from HAVO 4 to 5? Then you can also directly start the training for a regular career. This training is more extensive than the phased variant. You will also start as a squad leader in the lower tier, but due to the broader training, you will also be deployable in roles labeled for a regular career.
You will thus already meet the requirements for progression to the upper tier. By following career training and any technical refresher courses, you can then relatively easily make the step to the upper tier.
Where you will work
You will work at an Engineer unit of the Operational Support Command Land (OOCL) in Wezep, 13 Light Brigade in Oirschot, or at 43 Mechanized Brigade in Havelte.
After enlistment, you will first follow the Non-Commissioned Officer Training at the Royal Military School in Ermelo, where you will learn all basic military skills. After completion, you will start the specialized training at the Defense Training and Education Centre Engineer Corps in Vught. If you do not yet possess a driver's license, you will also follow the driver training at the Training and Education Centre for Driving in Oirschot.
As a Military member, you will participate in various exercises. Additionally, you must take into account that, like any Military member, you may be deployed abroad.
The Royal Netherlands Army will consider your placement preference, but may deviate from the initial placement preference for organizational reasons. The Royal Netherlands Army will inform you about your actual placement during the Technical Training.
