Job description
Introductory text
After your education in electrical engineering, working for a network operator or large energy company is obvious. But did you know that the Ministry of Defence is also a high-tech company with a huge amount of electrical installations? As a Warrant Officer Electrical Engineer in the Army, you will perform maintenance and complex repairs and learn to lead a group of soldiers.
What you will do
During a deployment or exercise, but also at the barracks, a considerable amount of electrical equipment can break down. Think of weapon systems and on-board computers in wheeled and tracked vehicles, but also communication equipment (information and communication systems) and washing machines. As a working foreman, you are both a mechanic and a supervisor (commander) of a group of specialists. You are responsible for the group materiel entrusted to you, such as vehicles with associated weapons and tools. As a commander, you also provide training for your personnel.
Advantages of this position
- Work atmosphere: nowhere will you find such a close-knit team of colleagues as at the Ministry of Defence.
- Challenge: not only in terms of content, but also due to your special working environment.
- Training opportunities: besides being an employer, the Ministry of Defence is also a large training institute, where you can follow (paid) training to grow personally and professionally.
Where you will work
As a Warrant Officer Electrical Engineer, you will work at one of the units of the Army spread across the country. Because you are a soldier in addition to being a specialist in your field, you will participate in (peace) missions and exercises abroad. But before you start working, you will first follow training that we will pay for.
You will start with the Warrant Officer training at the Royal Military Academy (KMS) in Ermelo. You will complete your training with a Technical Specialisation Course at the Training and Education Centre Logistics/Technical Service in Soesterberg.
The Royal Netherlands Army takes your placement preference into account, but may deviate from the initial placement preference for organisational reasons. The Royal Netherlands Army will inform you about your actual placement during the Technical Specialisation Course.
Maybe you are hesitating. We are not. We see not only who you are now, but also who you can become. What you cannot do today, you will learn tomorrow. With good education, training, guidance and a team that stands behind you.
Take the step How do I prepare?Don't worry, we believe in you. At the Ministry of Defence, you get everything you need to grow: good education, training, coaching and a team that stands behind you. If it still doesn't work out? We will help you further. Together we will look at where you do belong within the Ministry of Defence.
