Introductory Text
Please note! This vacancy is expected to reopen in mid-2026.
An adventurous job on board a naval ship that sails around the world: would you like that? You can, if you have a HAVO or MBO 4 diploma! Join the Navy and be trained as a Junior Officer Electronic Warfare Controller, where you will be responsible for, among other things, the detection and deception of missiles for the ship's air defense. Are you not afraid of a little danger? Then this might be the job for you.
Note: If you are hired for this position, you will be appointed to the Ministry of Defence as a 'Junior Officer Electronic Warfare Controller (EOVC)'.
What you will do
As an Electronic Warfare Controller, you are the specialist in Anti Ship Missile Defence (ASMD) within the Command Center of a frigate and the person who initiates the various deception actions. You are part of the air defense team and advise the command on all aspects of electronic warfare (EW) and you are responsible for the deployment of the various soft-kill systems that belong to you. Within this team, you are the only one with this detailed knowledge and associated installations. In addition to many exercises with real and simulated threats, actual deployment operations also take place to build knowledge and experience with the systems you work with.
Additionally, you will guide colleagues in their tasks in the Command Center and check the work performed. Work at sea continues 24/7, so shifts are also worked during the night and on weekends.
Note: There are various start dates throughout the year. After applying, you will receive a personal application file, which will include an enlistment date. Please note: this is a fictional date and therefore incorrect. The start date you are eligible for will be determined later. This depends, among other things, on the results of the psychological assessment, the medical examination, and the security investigation, which are part of the application process. Once all these components have been successfully completed, your start date will be discussed and confirmed. Participation in the various training courses depends on your own progress and available places in the courses.
