Introduction

As a Corporal Drone Operations, you combine computer work with physical labor on board one of our newest naval vessels. Additionally, you will lead a small team and contribute to safety at sea and from sea.

What you will do

A navy that innovates requires new specialists. As a Corporal Drone Operations, you will have the unique opportunity to work in this new role on one of our newest ships with innovative high-tech equipment. You will work at the intersection of the operational service (in the command center) and the nautical service (on deck), allowing you to experience the best of both worlds.

To provide safety at sea and from sea, you will work with a specialized team on mine countermeasures. You will do this by assessing sonar images and operating, maintaining, and monitoring high-tech equipment on board. This is not just computer work, but a search for harmful sea mines.

Your goal? To ensure that these mines are neutralized, so that passage at sea, in coastal waters, and at harbor entrances is safe for merchant and naval ships, anywhere in the world. Additionally, you will be physically engaged during deck operations. You will participate in watch duties both at sea and in port, and you will work closely within a team, allowing you to learn a lot from each other.

Where you will work

You will work within the Mine Countermeasures Module Group (MMG). The permanent ship's crew consists of 33 people. Additionally, 30 MMG staff members can join modularly. They provide the mine countermeasures capability with a modern package of equipment, such as unmanned vessels and drones.

You will work in a small, specialized team where you collaborate with and lead other specialists.

Please note: the duty station for this position is Den Helder, but as part of the Belgian-Dutch cooperation (BeNeSam), work is also carried out in and from Belgium. The training trajectory takes place largely in Belgium.
