Warrant Officer Construction Engineer (Force Support Engineer)

Introductory text

Do you want to become a construction supervisor, but not at a ‘regular’ company? At the Ministry of Defence, you can work for the Engineers: the Land Forces' military construction company, specializing in combat support and construction. As a Construction Supervisor, you will lead a group of about ten military technicians.

Note: If you are hired for this position, you will be appointed at the Ministry of Defence with the job title ‘Warrant Officer Construction Engineer’.

What you will do

As a Warrant Officer Construction Engineer, you and your group will be the supervisors of architectural and civil engineering projects. Together, you will work on the most diverse military constructions and objects. Think of bridges, airfields, shelters, lookout posts, and even complete camps. You are both a specialist and a leader simultaneously. With your technical knowledge and improvisational skills, you will steer your team in the right direction, under all circumstances.

Where you will work

Depending on your preference and the available space within the organization, you will work at one of the Engineer locations: Oirschot (near Eindhoven), Wezep (near Zwolle), or in 's Hertogenbosch. You will regularly participate in exercises at home and abroad. You may also be deployed on missions.

After entering service, you will first follow the Warrant Officer training at the Royal Military School in Ermelo, where you will learn all basic military skills. After completion, you will start the specialized training at the Defence Training and Education Centre for Engineers in Vught. If you do not yet possess a driver's license, you will additionally follow the driver training at the Driver Training and Education Centre in Oirschot.

The Royal Land Forces take your placement preference into account, but may deviate from the initial placement preference for organizational reasons. The Royal Land Forces will inform you about your actual placement during the Technical Training.

As a starting warrant officer, you will immediately learn what it's like to lead a group of military personnel. You will be given a lot of responsibility right away. After holding several positions within the Engineers, you can choose to become an instructor at a school battalion. In the future, you will be a Sergeant Major, serving as the deputy platoon commander, an important link.
