Then we have a job for you immediately after your training at the Royal Military School; as a Reconnaissance Officer in the Cavalry of the Army.

What you will do

As a Junior Officer Cavalry Reconnaissance in the Army, you will gather tactical information for your unit. As a soldier of this unit, you are the eyes and ears of the Brigade, while you move in the air-mobile reconnaissance vehicle.

You start as a vehicle commander and lead two scouts. You operate in a group of two reconnaissance vehicles, a total of six soldiers, and are part of a reconnaissance platoon consisting of eight or six reconnaissance vehicles. Together with your team, you gather information about the strength, location, and plans of the enemy. Scouting command posts, logistical installations, and reconnoitering bridges and routes, on foot, dismounted, or mounted with the air-mobile reconnaissance vehicle, are part of your task package. You can also be deployed for various guard duties, or to guard the front and flanks of your brigade, for which you have a multitude of weapons and means at your disposal. In addition, you work with various sensors such as unmanned aerial systems (UAS), combat field radars, and unmanned ground sensors to carry out your mission as well as possible.

Where you will work

You will be placed with 11 Air Assault Brigade of the Army, which is located at many locations in the country. You will participate in exercises and you must take into account that you may be deployed abroad.

Before you start working, you will first follow the Junior Officer Training at the Royal Military School in Ermelo, Oirschot, Assen, or Schaarsbergen, where you will learn all basic military skills, followed by the Technical Training at the Maneuver Training and Education Center in Amersfoort. After successfully completing your training, you will immediately start your career as a Junior Officer Cavalry Reconnaissance.

The Royal Army takes your placement preference into account, but may deviate from the initial placement preference for organizational reasons. The Royal Army will inform you about your actual placement during the Technical Training.
