We are looking for an enthusiastic man/woman whom we can train to become a Non-Commissioned Officer Artillery! Do you want to continue your studies at the Army with a VMBO GL diploma? As a Non-Commissioned Officer Artillery, you will become part of the department that supports combat units with long-range artillery fire. After your training, you can start working immediately. What you will do

As a Non-Commissioned Officer Artillery in the Army, you will work in the Artillery department, which supports combat units with long-range artillery fire. You will collaborate with (international) land, air, and sea forces and with high-tech weapon systems, communication, and target acquisition equipment. As a Non-Commissioned Officer Artillery, you are the central point of contact that all your team members can rely on. You will lead a team of four people and you will be responsible for the gun and the equipment. Together with your team, you ensure that a projectile hits the chosen target on time. You will participate in exercises at the barracks, but also in the field. For example, you will join the Royal Netherlands Marine Corps for winter training in Norway, or you will undergo helicopter training to support air-mobile infantry.

Note: there are multiple start dates throughout the year. After applying, you will receive a personal application file, which will state an enlistment date. Please note: this is a fictional date and therefore incorrect. The start date for which you are eligible will be determined later. This depends, among other things, on the results of the psychological evaluation, the medical examination, and the security screening, which are part of the application process. Once all these components have been successfully completed, your start date will be discussed and confirmed.

Where you will work

You will be placed at the Fire Support Command (VustCo) in 't Harde. You will participate in exercises and you should be prepared to be deployed abroad.

Before you start working, you will first follow the Non-Commissioned Officer training at the Royal Military School in Ermelo, where you will learn all basic military skills, followed by a job-specific training at the Defense Training and Education Center Fire Support in 't Harde. If you do not yet possess a driver's license, you will additionally follow driver training at the Driver Training and Education Center in Oirschot. After successfully completing your training, you will immediately begin your career as a Non-Commissioned Officer Artillery.

The Royal Netherlands Army takes your placement preference into account, but may deviate from the initial placement preference for organizational reasons. The Royal Netherlands Army will inform you about your actual placement during the job-specific training.

As a sergeant, you will start as a section commander on the Self-Propelled Howitzer, a large tracked artillery piece. In a subsequent role, you can also work as a Forward Observer, where you act as an observer at the front of the battle, relaying information to the artillery pieces. After this, you can advance to warrant officer, with increasing responsibilities.
