Job description
ENGLISH VERSION
Joining Mines Saint-Étienne means committing to an institution where science and innovation build a more sustainable future. It is a school of excellence where everyone has the opportunity to reach their full potential and contribute to meeting tomorrow's challenges.
Ranked among the best engineering schools in France and recognized internationally, our school, a member of the Institut Mines-Télécom, trains tomorrow's talents while actively addressing major industrial, digital, and environmental issues. By joining us, you become part of a community of 500 staff members and 2,500 students, and participate in an ambitious project: to combine academic excellence, cutting-edge research, and positive societal impact.
The Institut Mines-Télécom brings together the largest French Schools to tackle major industrial, digital, energy, and environmental challenges. With its eight public Grandes Écoles and two affiliated Graduate Schools, it is the leading public institute dedicated to training engineers and managers. Together, we imagine and build a sustainable future by training the leaders who will shape the transitions of tomorrow.
The flexible electronics department develops technological and scientific knowledge in the field of flexible electronics. The department has solid expertise in the electrical and mechanical characterization of materials and interfaces. Its activities are grouped within a 660 m² platform. This technological platform brings together facilities and technological equipment dedicated to R&D activities in micropackaging, micro- and nano-electronics, within a 220 m² cleanroom of class 1000 and 400 m² of class 10,000.
🎯 What we expect from you
As an intern, the candidate will carry out innovations and research activities in the field of electronics. Within the flexible electronics (FEL) department of the Centre de Microélectronique de Provence (CMP), the candidate will combine a passion for science with a desire for societal impact.
This internship is part of the Sens-CO research project, which partners the Université Gustave Eiffel, the Ecole Polytechnique, and the Ecole des Mines de Saint-Etienne. This project aims to develop a portable NOx and CO gas sensor for continuous environmental monitoring. The internal resistance of the sensor varies with the measured gas concentration. The CMP's role is to precisely obtain the value of this resistance through an electronic circuit, a value then processed by a microcontroller to enable correlation with gas concentration, as well as data processing and transmission via contactless communication.
The candidate will first be required to implement a rigid PCB prototype. Given the high value of the resistances to be measured, the final PCB must allow for:
· Precise measurement of high resistance values
· Low noise and resistance to electromagnetic interference
· Transfer of the rigid PCB to a flexible substrate.
🔍 What we are looking for
You are currently in your third year of BUT GEII or an engineering program in electronics, embedded systems, or related fields.
You must:
• Have a strong interest in electronics and embedded systems
• Have experience with electronic circuit simulation and design tools (LTSpice, KiCad, etc.) as well as PCB design and microcontroller programming.
An experimental approach and knowledge of printed circuit board design are essential.
