Signals Officer (CYBER)

Introductory Text

The digital world is an indispensable part of modern operations. Cyber and Electromagnetic activities play a significant role, especially within Defense. After your Bachelor's or Master's degree, you can start as a Signals Officer Cyber. You will work within the Command & Control Support Command (C2OstCo) at the 101 CEMA Battalion of the Army. Here, you will contribute to the protection of military networks, systems, and information against digital threats, or you will contribute to electronic warfare.

Note: If you are hired for this position, you will be appointed by Defense with the job title 'Signals Officer Cyber'.

What you will do

The Signals Service ensures that Defense can operate safely in the digital domain. Within the CEMA chain, you will focus on protecting, monitoring, and supporting military digital systems and networks, and you will ensure that the Army is dominant in the virtual dimension. As a Signals Officer (Cyber), you will lead a team of military personnel engaged in CEMA cyber operations. You are responsible for the readiness of your team and for the proper functioning of resources during exercises and operations. This includes monitoring networks, recognizing digital threats, jamming and probing the electromagnetic spectrum, and supporting military units in the CEMA domain.

You will combine leadership with in-depth knowledge of CEMA. You will be involved in planning, training, and development of your team. Furthermore, you will collaborate with other defense components to ensure digital security. In this way, you will make a direct contribution to the digital resilience of the Army.

Where you will work

Before you start, you will follow the Defense-wide Short Officer Training (DKOO) at the Royal Military Academy in Breda. After that, you will follow a specialized technical cyber training, in which you will be prepared for working within the CEMA domain of Defense.

After your training, you will start working within the C2OstCo at the 101 CEMA Battalion of the Army. You will work from military locations in the Netherlands and support cyber operations during exercises and, if necessary, during deployment. Your activities will take place in a professional and secure environment where collaboration and continuous learning are central.

The Royal Netherlands Army will take your placement preference into account, but may deviate from the initial placement preference for organizational reasons. The Royal Netherlands Army will inform you about your actual placement during the Specialized Technical Training.
