Do you want to safely guide our aircraft through the sky from the ground, or perhaps direct our F-35s into a potential air combat? And do you have your VWO diploma or your HBO propaedeutic certificate? Then discover the challenging role of Air Combat Control Officer in the Air Force. Together with your team, you are responsible for the surveillance and security of NATO and Dutch airspace. Do you think you have what it takes?

This is what you will do

As an Air Combat Control Officer in the Air Force, you can work within Air Surveillance or Fighter Control.

In Air Surveillance, you watch over the Dutch part of NATO airspace. You build a reliable air picture using radar equipment and exchange important information with neighboring countries. You are constantly looking for aircraft that need to identify themselves. If you don't trust a situation, you will call in the Fighter Controller.

When a suspicious situation is detected on radar, it is up to the Fighter Controller to immediately dispatch two fighter jets. The Fighter Controller ensures that the aircraft reach their target as quickly and safely as possible.

In both roles, you will guide training exercises for fighter pilots and coordinate air combat.

This is where you will work

You will be working at the Air Operations and Control Station (AOCS) Nieuw Milligen in Uddel. You will also regularly participate in exercises at home and abroad. Additionally, you must take into account that you may be deployed. Before you start working, you will first complete the 4-year Military Scientific Education at the NLDA (Netherlands Defence Academy). Depending on your bachelor's degree, you will primarily be at the Royal Military Academy (KMA) in Breda or the Royal Institute for the Navy (KIM) in Den Helder. Afterward, you will follow the Technical Training (VTO) in Uddel. The Military Scientific Education you will follow is the bachelor's degree program Military Systems & Technology (MS&T), War Studies (KW), or Military Business Studies (MBW).
