Introductory text

Do you want to guide our aircraft safely through the air from the ground, or rather send our F-35s to a potential air combat? Then discover the challenging role of Air Combat Control Officer at Defense. Together with your team, you are responsible within the Air Force for the surveillance and security of NATO and Dutch airspace.

What you will do

Within air combat control, there are two directions: Air Surveillance and Fighter Controller. As an Air Combat Control Officer within Air Surveillance, you watch over the Dutch part of NATO airspace. You ensure a reliable air picture and exchange important information with neighboring countries. You are constantly looking for aircraft that need to identify themselves. Don't trust a situation? Then you involve the Fighter Controller. As a Fighter Controller, in turn, you ensure that two fighter aircraft are immediately guided to a suspicious situation. You also guide the training of fighter pilots and coordinate large-scale air combats. In short: two serious directions, in which you perform tasks that are of vital importance. Where you will work

You will start working at the Air Operations and Control Station (AOCS) in Nieuw-Milligen and will also go abroad occasionally for exercises and deployments.

As an Air Combat Control Officer, you watch over the safety of the airspace. Your main task is to guide aircraft to their destination. When you grow, you will lead a team. You manage this team and are also responsible for everything that happens on the work floor. During your career, there are many opportunities to gain experience abroad, work on the AWACS (radar aircraft) for a while, or to grow within the Air Force.
