Intelligence and Security Officer Human Terrain Analyst (WO)
Job description
Introductory text
Do you have strong analytical skills and are you looking for a job that challenges you both mentally and physically? And do you have a WO degree in a political-social direction, such as International Relations, History, or Political Sciences? At the Army, we are currently looking for an
Intelligence and Security Officer Human Terrain Analyst. Your workplace: at the barracks, but also on exercises and deployments.
Applying is possible! Please note: attending the info day on May 13th is mandatory to participate in the application procedure. More information can be found at the bottom of this page, under the heading 'The application'.
Note: if you are hired for this position, you will be appointed at the Ministry of Defence as an ‘Intelligence & Security (I&S) Officer Human Terrain Analyst (HTA)’.
What you will do
As an I&S Officer HTA, you will work in a multidisciplinary team of analysts. With the team, you can be deployed for assignments, projects, deployments, and exercises. The duration can vary from a few weeks to 4-6 months.
Your task as an HTA is to collect and interpret information from the human domain within an operational area. This can include the analysis of political structures and social connections. Conclusions from your analyses of the Human Terrain will be integrated with analyses from other disciplines to gain insight into the operational environment and create intelligence products. These support the military planning and decision-making process of commanders.
PLUS POINTS OF THIS FUNCTION
- Salary: your gross base salary, with allowances and our favorable travel expenses, pension, and health insurance schemes, will result in a pleasant net surprise.
- Work atmosphere: nowhere else will you be part of such a close-knit team of colleagues as at the Ministry of Defence.
- Growth opportunities: besides being an employer, the Ministry of Defence is also a large training institute where you can follow courses to grow personally and professionally.
Note: After attending the info day, you can participate in the selection procedure. This procedure takes approximately 6-9 months and consists of various components, such as submitting a cover letter and your CV, performing and presenting an analysis assignment, and a physical and psychological examination.
Where you will work
You will work at the Joint ISTAR Command in 't Harde. ISTAR stands for Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition, and Reconnaissance. JISTARC collects and analyzes information and provides military commanders with the most complete and up-to-date picture of the operational environment possible. You will focus on analyses of the human domain.
As an HTA, you are not only an analyst but also a soldier and an officer. You will primarily work at the barracks in 't Harde, but you will also participate in deployments and exercises at home and abroad. Because your work is often carried out in an international context (think of missions in Mali and Lithuania, but also many other small missions and exercises), you will work closely with international partners of the Dutch Armed Forces. Sometimes you will also provide support to police investigations in support of the Dutch government.
Before you start working, you will first complete a training program, consisting of the Defence-wide Short Officer Training (DKOO) of one year at the Royal Military Academy (KMA) in Breda, followed by the Technical Training (VTO) Intelligence & Security (I&S) at the Intelligence & Security Academy (ISA) of seven months. After successfully completing your training, you will immediately begin your career as an Intelligence and Security Officer Human Terrain Analyst in the Army.
