Intelligence and Security Officer Geospatial Analyst (WO)
Job description
Introduction Text
Do you have strong analytical skills and are you open to a unique mental and physical challenge in a diverse work environment? And do you have a WO degree in fields such as Geology, Geography, or Technology/Biometrics/Nuclear Engineering? At the Army, we are looking for an
Intelligence and Security Officer Geospatial Analyst (I&S GSA). Your workplace: at the barracks, but also during exercises and deployments.
Applying is possible! Please note: attending the information day on May 13th is mandatory to participate in the application procedure. You can find more information at the bottom of this page, under the heading 'The Application'.
Note: if you are hired for this position, you will be appointed by Defense as 'Intelligence & Security Officer (I&S) Geospatial Analyst (GSA)'.
What you will do
As an I&S GSA Officer, you will work in a multidisciplinary team of analysts. The team can be deployed for assignments, projects, deployments, and exercises. The duration can vary from a few weeks to 4-6 months.
Your role as a GSA is to describe and analyze spatial and temporal aspects of the physical environment and of events taking place in this environment. These analyses manifest, for example, as suitability analyses, terrain analyses, geostatistics, and remote sensing analyses. The conclusions from your geo-analyses are integrated with analyses from other disciplines to gain insight into the operational environment and to create intelligence products. These support the military planning and decision-making process.
PLUS POINTS OF THIS FUNCTION
- Salary: your gross base salary, through allowances and our favorable travel, pension, and health insurance schemes, will result in a pleasant net surprise.
- Work atmosphere: nowhere will you be part of such a close-knit team of colleagues as at Defense.
- Growth opportunities: Defense is not only an employer but also a large training institute where you can follow courses to grow personally and professionally.
Note: After attending the information day, you can participate in the selection procedure. This procedure takes approximately 6-9 months and consists of various components. See the overview at the bottom of this page.
Where you will work
You will work at the Joint ISTAR Command in 't Harde. ISTAR stands for Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition, and Reconnaissance. JISTARC collects and analyzes information, thereby providing military commanders with the most complete and up-to-date picture of the operational environment possible.
As a GSA, you are not only a geo-specialist but also a military officer. You will primarily work at the barracks in 't Harde, but you will also participate in exercises and deployments both domestically and abroad. Because these are often carried out in an international context (think of missions like in Mali and Lithuania, but also many other smaller missions), you will work closely with international partners of the Dutch armed forces. Supportive deployment for police investigations is also possible within the framework of the third main task of Defense.
Before you start, you will first complete a training program, consisting of the one-year Defense-wide Short Officer Training (DKOO) at the Royal Military Academy (KMA) in Breda, followed by the seven-month Technical Training (VTO) Intelligence & Security (I&S) at the Intelligence & Security Academy (ISA). After successfully completing your training, you will immediately begin your career as an
Intelligence and Security Officer Geospatial Analyst in the Army. Once in your role, you will receive additional geo-training.
