As a hydrographer, you are involved in measuring and describing seabeds. The data you collect is then used, for example, for navigation charts or locating a drilling rig. Sounds like an interesting challenge for you? Then apply for the position of Hydrographic Officer at the Navy!

What you will do
As a Hydrographic Officer, you will work in the Military Hydrography & METOC department of the Royal Netherlands Navy. Your tasks will include conducting civil or military hydrographic surveys and processing the recorded data, with which you will support maritime operations or exercises.
In addition, you will collect and process data from national and international civil and military data sources. For this position, you must be flexible and able to work independently, but also enjoy working in a team.

Note: There are various start dates throughout the year. After applying, you will receive a personal application file, which will include a reporting date. Please note: this is a fictional date and therefore incorrect. The start date for which you are eligible will only be determined later. This depends, among other things, on the results of the fitness test, the psychological examination, the medical examination, and the security screening, which are part of the application process. Once all these parts have been successfully completed, your start date will be discussed and finalized.
Where you will work
You will work at the Military Hydrography & METOC department within the Hydrographic Service in The Hague or Den Helder. Your work area is primarily the North Sea and sometimes overseas territories. You will participate in exercises and must take into account that you may be deployed.
Before you start, you will first complete a 10-week Specialist Training at the Royal Netherlands Naval College (KIM). After successfully completing your training, you will immediately begin your career as a Hydrographic Officer in the Royal Netherlands Navy.
