Introduction
Would you like to pursue a technical bachelor's degree with a leadership position in prospect? And have you (almost) obtained your VWO diploma? Then use your talents as an Officer Engineer in the Army! The Engineers are the military construction company of the Army, specializing in combat support and construction.
What you will do
As an Officer Engineer, you will lead a group of soldiers in a dynamic environment, where your aptitude for technology and organization will be optimally utilized. The professionals you direct work on the most diverse military constructions and objects. Think of bridges, airfields, shelters, observation posts, and even complete camps. But they also clear mines, dig water wells in dry areas, and protect their own troops from hazardous substances. You ensure that your people can do their work and are ultimately responsible. You do this by leading approximately 40 soldiers in a challenging environment that calls upon your technical and organizational improvisational talent.

Where you will work
As an Officer Engineer, you will start in a leadership position as a platoon commander with the Armored Engineers in Wezep or Oirschot, with the Air Assault Engineers in Schaarsbergen, or with the Construction Engineers in Wezep. You will thus contribute to the tasks of the Engineers: at the barracks, during exercises, and during deployment.
Before you start, you will follow the Military Scientific Education at the Netherlands Defence Academy (NLDA) in Breda, followed by the Technical Vocational Training in Vught.
The Royal Netherlands Army takes your placement preference into account, but may deviate from the initial placement preference for organizational reasons. The Royal Netherlands Army will inform you about your actual placement during the Technical Vocational Training.
As an Officer Engineer, you will start as a platoon commander with the Armored Engineers in Wezep or Oirschot, with the Air Assault Engineers in Schaarsbergen, or with the Construction Engineers in Wezep. After your initial function, you can move on to subsequent positions at higher levels, generally within the Engineers. In the future, as an officer, you can also grow into more general leadership, advisory, and management functions necessary for the direction of Defense in general and the Royal Netherlands Army in particular.
