About Our Client

As they continue to grow, my client is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Office/Tax Administrator to join their team.

Support the accountants in ensuring accurate and timely compliance with tax regulations and the office, by completing administrative tasks. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of tax principles, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.

You’ll also be overseeing accounts receivable and payable, and ensuring smooth day-to-day office operations. You’ll handle onboarding, leave records, and staff training, maintain filing deadlines and compliance, and assist IT with office software and cloud accounting systems.

This role is perfect for someone organised, proactive, and ready to take ownership of office operations while supporting a growing accounting team.

Please note: you need to have at least 1 year of experience working at a chartered accountancy firm in New Zealand. You also need to have the right to work in New Zealand.

Responsibilities:
  1. Tax Compliance: Assist in preparing and filing various tax returns, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  2. Documentation and Recordkeeping: Maintain organised and up-to-date tax records, documentation, and client files. Ensure accuracy and completeness of all relevant information.
  3. Client Communication: Communicate with clients to collect necessary tax-related information and resolve any inquiries they may have regarding their tax filings.
  4. Research and Analysis: Stay informed about changes in tax laws and regulations. Conduct research to provide accurate and timely advice to clients and colleagues.
  5. Team Collaboration: Work closely with the team to facilitate smooth communication and coordination of tasks related to administration.
  6. Process Improvement: Identify areas for process improvement and contribute ideas to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of tax-related procedures.
Qualifications:
  1. Educational Background: NZ Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field - preferred but not required
  2. Experience: Prior experience in a public practice Tax/Office administration or a similar role is preferred. Familiarity with tax software and financial accounting systems is an advantage.
  3. Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  4. Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate complex tax concepts in a clear and understandable manner.
  5. Team Player: Collaborative attitude and ability to work effectively within a team.
  6. Adaptability: Ability to adapt to changing priorities and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
