Job description

Responsible for administering occupational therapy modalities of treatment as directed by an occupational therapist (OT). Administers treatments and physical agents as per the occupational therapist an effort to restore function and prevent disability following injury, disease, or physical disability. Assist occupational patients to reach their maximum performance and level of functioning, while learning to live within the limits of their capabilities. The occupational therapy assistant participates in the development and implementation of treatment plans, under the supervision of an occupational therapist. Provides education and training to patients, families, and caregivers on the use of assistive devices, adaptive equipment, and other techniques to promote independence and safety. Maintains accurate and detailed records of patient treatment, including progress notes, treatment plans, and discharge summaries. Collaborates with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care and to promote optimal patient outcomes. Participates in quality improvement activities to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care. The occupational therapy assistant is expected to maintain confidentiality and adhere to all applicable laws and regulations, including HIPAA. The occupational therapy assistant is expected to maintain a professional demeanor and to demonstrate respect and compassion for patients, families, and caregivers. The occupational therapy assistant is expected to maintain a clean and organized work environment, and to follow all safety protocols and procedures. The occupational therapy assistant is expected to maintain a current and valid CPR certification, and to participate in continuing education and professional development activities to stay current with best practices and evidence-based research. The occupational therapy assistant is expected to maintain a current and valid driver's license, and to have access to a reliable vehicle for travel to patient homes and other locations.
