Occupational Therapist – Child Development Services Timaru Hospital South Canterbury Permanent Part Time 0.5 FTE Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is firmly grounded in the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and is dedicated to serving all New Zealanders. About the Role & Service We are looking for an Occupational Therapist to join our established and supportive team in Child Development Services. The role involves providing occupational therapy services to children and their families within a community setting. You will be working with children who have a range of developmental and physical disabilities, providing assessment, intervention and support. Key Responsibilities: * Provide high quality Occupational Therapy services to children and their families. * Assess children's needs using standardized and non-standardized assessment tools. * Develop and implement individualised intervention plans in collaboration with the child, family and other professionals. * Provide support and education to families and caregivers. * Participate in team meetings and contribute to service development. * Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation. Skills & Experience: * Registered Occupational Therapist with current APC (Annual Practicing Certificate) with the Occupational Therapy Board of New Zealand. * Experience working with children with disabilities. * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. * Ability to work independently and as part of a team. * Commitment to ongoing professional development. To be successful in this role you will bring: * A Bachelor of Occupational Therapy, or equivalent qualification. * Registered with the Occupational Therapy Board of New Zealand and hold a current APC. * Previous experience working with children and their families is essential. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills. * Ability to work independently and within a team environment. * A commitment to ongoing professional development.
