Job description
About the role
We’re looking for Network Inspectors to join our team on our NZTA IDC contract across the Manawatū and Whanganui regions. Based in either Palmerston North or Whanganui, you’ll play a key part in keeping the network safe, well maintained, and performing as it should.
This is a role for someone who knows how to read a network, spot issues early, and make sound calls on what needs attention now and what can be planned. You’ll carry out scheduled inspections, update the AWM (RAMM) system accurately, and provide clear evidence that helps drive smart maintenance decisions. It’s Good Work that matters, with a team that’s flat, friendly, and serious when it counts.
Key role responsibilities
Carry Out scheduled day and night visual inspections across the network and identify defects, routine work, and ordered work.
Assess asset condition, log faults, and prioritise safety hazards and maintenance requirements in line with contract specifications.
Update the Principal’s AWM (RAMM) system accurately to support data integrity, reporting, and decision making.
Size and scope required maintenance work, provide clear supporting evidence, and monitor the quality of delivery outcomes.
Build strong working relationships with NZTA and stakeholders, attend alignment workshops, and contribute to KPI performance.
Assist the IDC business during emergency events and afterhour callouts.
We’re looking for someone with
At Least 5 years’ relevant experience in road maintenance or network inspection, with the ability to assess road conditions and identify hazards.
Strong knowledge of road maintenance contracts, asset types, and the activities involved in maintaining a transport network.
Hands On experience using Work Manager and Mobile AWM apps and systems, with a solid understanding of related processes.
A Relevant qualification e.g. a civil diploma, or equivalent industry experience, plus the ability to carry out required inspections.
A Current Class 1 driver licence, strong judgement, accurate record keeping, and a safety-first mindset

About us
At Fulton Hogan, Good Work is about more than what we deliver. It’s about how we show up, how we show up, and how we keep moving forward together. We work in a low ego, ideas first way. We take the work seriously, not ourselves, and when the stakes are high, we switch on and deliver.
Our people are at the heart of what we do. We’re proud to support the communities we work in and to build, maintain, and improve infrastructure that matters for New Zealand. If you want to be part of a team that backs each other, values safety, and gives you room to grow, you’ll fit right in.
