Network-Engineer (m/w/d) - Access und Datacenter Consulting
Job description
As Network Engineer at our company, you will play a central role in providing professional network solutions for our customers. You will analyze customer requirements, design scalable and robust network infrastructures, and successfully implement them. Your technical skills and problem-solving abilities, particularly in the areas of Cisco WLAN, Cisco DNA, and Cisco Catalyst Center, are crucial for the success of our projects. Additionally, you will bring comprehensive knowledge of firewalls, DNS servers, and network security, such as 802.1x, to ensure networks are secure, efficient, and stable.
Your Tasks:
Network Analysis: You will conduct comprehensive analyses of existing network infrastructures and identify strengths, weaknesses, and improvement potential.
Network Design: Together with our customers, you will design tailored network architectures that align with their business goals. You will consider scalability, security, and performance and use automation tools like Terraform and scripting to optimize the design process.
WLAN Technologies: You will plan, configure, and optimize WLAN infrastructures, including access points, controllers, and security measures based on Cisco WLAN solutions. You will integrate the WLAN infrastructure into the Cisco DNA or Cisco Catalyst Center and administer it through the Cisco DNA or Cisco Catalyst Center.
Automation: You will develop and implement automation solutions and operate them based on Cisco DNA or Cisco Catalyst Center.
Data Center: You will plan, configure, and optimize data center networks based on Cisco ACI.
Implementation: You will implement network installations according to approved designs and ensure that all configurations are correct and functional. You will also integrate network automation into GitLab CI/CD pipelines.
Error Handling: You will diagnose and resolve complex network problems to minimize downtime. Scripting will be used specifically for error diagnosis and problem-solving.
Safety: You will plan, configure, and maintain firewalls and intrusion-detection systems to protect networks from external and internal threats.
DNS Servers: You will be responsible for configuring, maintaining, and optimizing DNS servers to ensure stable and reliable name resolution.
Documentation: You will create and maintain comprehensive network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and standard operating procedures.
Customer Communication: You will be the central point of contact for our customers, providing regular updates on project status and clarifying questions or concerns. You will also support customers in introducing automation, such as integrating GitLab CI/CD.
Up-to-Dateness: You will stay up-to-date with the latest technology trends, technologies, and best practices in the areas of networks, cloud (AWS, Azure), WLAN, firewalls, DNS, and automation (Terraform, GitLab CI/CD) in your work.

You Bring:
Completed studies in computer science, information technology, or a comparable field (or equivalent professional experience).
Experience as a network engineer, ideally in a consulting function or a similar customer-oriented role.
Fundamental knowledge of network protocols such as TCP/IP, VLANs, OSPF, BGP, and VPN technologies.
Experience with network hardware and software, including routers, switches, firewalls, and monitoring tools.
Knowledge in the area of WLAN technologies, including access points, WLAN controllers, and network security solutions for wireless environments.
Scripting knowledge in Python, Perl, or Bash for automation tasks.
Experience with automation tools like Terraform, Ansible, or Puppet.
At least 5 years of experience with Cisco DNA or Cisco Catalyst Center.
At least 5 years of experience with Cisco WLAN solutions.
At least 5 years of experience with Cisco ACI.
At least 5 years of experience with 802.1x (wired, wireless).
Very good PKI knowledge.
You have at least one Cisco CCNP certification.
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and in a team.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Languages:
Very good knowledge of English (written and spoken) to communicate effectively with customers and team members.
Very good knowledge of German (written and spoken) for collaboration with German-speaking customers.
