Because Maxitel is growing and acquiring larger clients and projects, they are looking for a Network Engineer to help manage and further build this network.

Tasks

What will you do?

As a Network Engineer, you will be responsible for the technology behind Maxitel's services. You will work from the office in Alphen aan den Rijn, in close collaboration with the senior network specialist. No two days are the same.

Your activities include:

• Managing, configuring, and expanding core switches and routers.
• Maintaining the ring network and monitoring redundancy.
• Requesting, configuring, and managing fiber optic connections, in coordination with suppliers.
• Setting up and managing data center connections and peering, in coordination with data centers and partners.
• Troubleshooting issues to the root cause, including a structural solution.
• Contributing to the network architecture as Maxitel continues to grow.
• Documenting configurations and network diagrams.
• Handling other technical challenges that arise, together with colleagues from support and sales.

Requirements

Who are we looking for?

Maxitel is looking for an experienced network engineer who truly understands the network. Not just how to set something up, but also why it works the way it does. You have done this for several years and work independently. Whoever thoroughly understands a network also easily handles other technical matters. They are looking for that broad mindset.

You recognize yourself in the following:

• You have a Bachelor's degree level of working and thinking.
• You have several years of experience as a network engineer, preferably at an ISP, telecom company, or data center.
• You have solid knowledge of routing and switching: BGP, OSPF, VLANs, and preferably MPLS.
• You are familiar with redundant network designs such as ring topologies.
• You have experience configuring equipment from, for example, Cisco or Juniper.
• A certification such as CCNA, CCNP, or JNCIA is a nice bonus.
• You work independently, take responsibility, and can take over the technical aspects when necessary.
• You have an excellent command of the Dutch language. English is a nice bonus.
