Job description

We, emagine, are looking for an experienced Navigation Architect - Domain Specialist (m/f/d) to strengthen an exciting project in Ingolstadt. About the Role You will take end-to-end responsibility for the onboard and offboard navigation architecture in Android Automotive / IVI / Digital Cockpit programs. Your Core Responsibilities * Definition of the navigation architecture for Android Automotive, Linux- or QNX-based cockpit platforms across app, SDK, middleware, and cloud levels. * Responsibility for 2D/3D map display, route calculation, turn-by-turn guidance, rerouting, traffic, ETA, POI/search, geocoding, map matching, offline maps, and map update processes. * Architecture of integration with TomTom, HERE Maps/HERE SDK, and Google Maps for Android Automotive, including abstraction strategy and fallback behavior. * Definition of onboard integration with GNSS, IMU, Sensor Fusion, VHAL/vehicle signals, cluster, HUD, and multi-display surfaces. * Responsibility for EV navigation features such as SOC-dependent routing, charging stop planning, range prediction, and energy modeling. * Definition of the validation strategy and KPIs for route quality, positioning accuracy, guidance correctness, and cloud reliability. Your Profile * 15+ years of experience in vehicle navigation, cloud navigation, automotive IVI, digital cockpit, GIS, connected services, or location-based systems. * German language skills at least C1 for customer workshops and on-site coordination in Germany (mandatory). * In-depth architectural experience with at least two navigation ecosystems: TomTom, HERE Maps/HERE SDK, or Google Maps/Android Automotive Maps. * Strong understanding of Android Automotive / AAOS, including app architecture, lifecycle, permissions, and Binder/AIDL fundamentals. * In-depth GIS knowledge: routing graphs, coordinate systems, spatial indexing, map topology. * Solid software development skills in Kotlin/Java and C++ with Clean Architecture and SOLID principles. * Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, as well as technical leadership experience. Framework Conditions * Location: Ingolstadt, Germany * Work Mode: Hybrid / 2-3 days onsite * Qualification: Bachelor/Master in Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, GIS, Geoinformatics, or comparable.
