Job description
The navigator is a navigating officer who is an integral part of the crew of military aircraft. His mission: plan, guide, and secure flights, by analyzing navigation data, weather conditions, potential threats, and objectives to be achieved.
He intervenes before and during the flight, whether for ground support, reconnaissance mission, transport operation, or high-speed tactical flight. He works on fighter jets, transport planes, or surveillance planes, alongside the pilot and other operators.
A salary equal between men and women at the same post and hierarchical level.

The navigator training includes :
- Initial military training of 12 weeks at the Air and Space School in Salon-de-Provence (Bouches-du-Rhône).
- Professional training for approximately 3 years.
You will follow a paid training :
In civilian life, entering training or retraining professionally is a financial challenge. In the Air and Space Army, you receive your navigator's salary, well before obtaining your certification, from the start of initial training.
As a navigator, you are expected to :
- Participate in the planning of aerial missions, taking into account operational constraints, weather, and geographical constraints ;
- Guide the crew during the flight using tactical navigation tools, GPS, radar, and specialized maps ;
- Analyze position, trajectory, threat, and overflight zone data ;
- Coordinate exchanges with other aircraft, command centers, and ground units ;
- Intervene in various missions: fire support, reconnaissance, strategic transport, tactical projections, or evacuations.
