Join our client’s team—a highly respected national law firm with an outstanding reputation in property, planning, and public law. Their Native Title and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander law practice is recognised for delivering trusted legal advice to a broad client base, including local governments, government agencies, developers, and private entities. Operating across Queensland, New South Wales, and Victoria, this team is frequently engaged on significant infrastructure and land use matters with cultural heritage impacts.

The team is led by a nationally respected legal expert in native title law and collaborates closely with the wider Property and Planning practice, offering a rich, supportive environment for legal professionals to thrive.

About the Position:

Our client is looking for a motivated Lawyer to join their busy Native Title and Cultural Heritage team. This is a rare opportunity to deepen your expertise in a specialised and impactful area of law, working on large-scale, complex matters with direct access to experienced leaders in the field.

You'll be involved in:

• Managing Native Title claims in the Federal Court, including appearances at mediations and case management hearings
• Advising government and private clients on compliance with Native Title and Cultural Heritage legislation
• Preparing due diligence reports and cultural assessments
• Drafting and negotiating Indigenous Land Use Agreements (ILUAs) and Cultural Heritage Management Plans

You’ll gain exposure to high-profile matters, build relationships with Traditional Owner groups, and develop a diverse litigation and advisory skillset in one of the most respected practices in the country.

Key Requirements:

• 2–4 years post-admission experience (PAE)
• Exposure to Native Title, litigation, planning, or land-related legal work is highly desirable
• Sound knowledge—or a willingness to develop expertise—in Native Title and Cultural Heritage legislation
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work with diverse stakeholders
• Confident in managing multiple files and court deadlines
• Willingness to travel for hearings or meetings as required
• Enthusiastic about contributing to pro bono and community legal initiatives
