About the Position:
Our client is looking for a motivated Lawyer to join their busy Native Title and Cultural Heritage team. This is a rare opportunity to deepen your expertise in a specialised and impactful area of law, working on large-scale, complex matters with direct access to experienced leaders in the field.
You'll be involved in:
- Managing Native Title claims in the Federal Court, including appearances at mediations and case management hearings
- Advising government and private clients on compliance with Native Title and Cultural Heritage legislation
- Preparing due diligence reports and cultural assessments
- Drafting and negotiating Indigenous Land Use Agreements (ILUAs) and Cultural Heritage Management Plans
Key Requirements:
- 2–4 years post-admission experience (PAE)
- Exposure to Native Title, litigation, planning, or land-related legal work is highly desirable
- Sound knowledge—or a willingness to develop expertise—in Native Title and Cultural Heritage legislation
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work with diverse stakeholders
- Confident in managing multiple files and court deadlines
- Willingness to travel for hearings or meetings as required
- Enthusiastic about contributing to pro bono and community legal initiatives
- A dynamic legal role with exposure to high-profile Native Title matters
- One-on-one mentorship from a nationally recognised leader in the field
