Motor Mechanic

Fawkner Motor Wreckers is a well-established automotive business specialising in vehicle dismantling, repairs, and mechanical services. We are seeking a skilled and motivated Motor Mechanic to join our team.

Key Responsibilities

• Detect and diagnose mechanical and electrical faults in engines and vehicle components
• Dismantle and remove engine assemblies, transmissions, steering mechanisms, and other components
• Inspect, repair, and replace worn or defective parts and reassemble mechanical components
• Refer to service manuals and diagnostic tools as required
• Perform scheduled maintenance services including oil changes, lubrication, and engine tune-ups
• Ensure vehicles comply with pollution and safety regulations
• Reassemble engines and components after repair
• Test and adjust mechanical parts to ensure proper performance
• Diagnose and test parts using computer-based diagnostic equipment
• Inspect vehicles and issue roadworthiness certificates or advise on required work (where licensed)
• Respond to vehicle breakdown service calls when required

Requirements

• AQF Certificate III in Motor Mechanics (or equivalent)
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
• Experience with petrol engines and lightweight motor vehicles
• Knowledge of transmissions, suspension, steering, and braking systems
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Registration or licensing may be required
