Job description
- Location - ACT
- Security Clearance - Australian Citizens with minimum NV1 Clearance
- Length of Contract - Long Term (Greater than six months)
- Closing Date - 29/08/2025
- Provide structural and substantive editing, as well as copyediting and proofreading, of a wide range of Defence publications.
- Collaborate with a small team of editors and multimedia specialists.
- Assist with publication structure.
- Assist with English expression, Web Content Accessibility Guidelines and graphics, and Defence writing conventions.
- Ensure appropriate format.
- Assist in developing (via multimedia specialist resources) draft diagrams into a finished product.
- Liaise directly with the Defence print and distribution team on behalf of the publication developer for the delivery of in-house and outsourced high-volume printing and distribution services.
- Maintain an auditable trail, using Objective, of changes to and decisions on Defence publications.
- Support development and certification of terminology in support.
- Share ideas, information and experiences through knowledge management.
- Attend domestic and international events as directed.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience as a professional editor.
- Experience producing book-length manuscripts that comply with established style sheets.
- Fluency in the MS Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat.
- Strong oral communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience working both independently and within a team environment.
- Ability to organise and manage multiple deadlines and priorities.
