At Fastweb + Vodafone, we are looking for a Mobile Core Network Engineer **for the Team** Mobile Packet Core Engineering As a **Mobile Core Network Engineer** in the Technology Team, your activities and responsibilities will be the following: * Design and develop mobile architectures and solutions for different service generations **2G**/**4G/5G(NSA/SA)**. * Define service requirements and conduct technology scouting activities with direct interaction with vendors. * Prepare the relevant technical documentation. * Manage project planning phases, coordinating vendors and internal resources. * Support validation and go-live activities. The macro-domains of responsibility for the various teams within the Mobile functional area are: * Mobile Packet Core Architectures (EPC/5GC) and related services * eSIM/SIM management (electric profiles, Over-The-Air platforms, etc.) and Mobile Messaging architectures * Mobile Voice Services (VoLTE, VoWiFi) * Subscriber Data Management (SDM – HLR/HSS/UDM) Architectures * Architectures for signaling plane management (MAP, CAP, DIAMETER, HTTP/2) You will be able to interact with: * Business functions for the translation of service requirements into technological solutions. * The Operations team for post-deployment support. * The Cybersecurity team for the analysis and implementation of countermeasures and technologies to protect network security. **Essential Requirements:** * Degree in Telecommunications Engineering or Computer Engineering. * In-depth knowledge of **LTE/EPC Core Network** (MME, SGW, PGW, PCRF, HSS, etc.) and good knowledge of **5GC Core Network** (AMF, SMF, UPF, PCF, UDM/AUSF, etc.). * Familiarity with the 5G SA **service-based architecture (SBA)** and related protocols (HTTP/2, RESTful API). * Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., **VMware**, **KVM**) and containerization (**Kubernetes**), in a cloud-native environment. * Knowledge of **IMS and CS voice networks**. * Experience in **2G and 4G signaling** and related STP (Signaling Transfer Point) and DRA (Diameter Routing Agent) platforms. * Basic knowledge of the **mobile terminal ecosystem** and services such as **VoLTE**. * Basic knowledge in defining electric profiles of SIM/eSIM and related Over-The-Air management platforms. * Basic knowledge of architectures supporting mobile messaging services (SMSC/MMSC) and related service protocols (MTP, SCCP, TCAP, MAP, SMPP). * Good troubleshooting, KPI analysis, log, and network tracing skills. * Good knowledge of **networking** topics and main Layer 2/3 protocols (ARP, STP, RSTP, VRRP, BGP, OSPF). * Excellent knowledge of the English language. * Strong results orientation. * Teamwork attitude. * Flexibility, proactivity, and good interpersonal skills. Salary: from €34,000 gross/year + PdR.
