Job Description

This position will perform a wide variety of mineralogical studies at the microscope and using instruments on common and precious metal ores, industrial minerals, and other materials. The incumbent may manage small projects and assist in coordinating and supervising project technologists and technicians under the direction of senior management.

• Contribute to mineralogical projects to optimize client satisfaction and project profitability.
• Plan, organize, and coordinate small-scale laboratory projects.
• Assist in compiling and analyzing mineralogical data.
• Help plan mineralogical test work projects.
• Verify and compile data and establish data reports.
• Assist in writing and preparing parts of reports that are ultimately provided to clients.
• Responsible for the quality and timely completion of technical mineralogical reports, as well as associated billing.
• Ensure proper use of all installations, instruments, and equipment used during a project.
• Develop proposals based on guidelines provided by main mineralogists or the AMF manager.
• Resolve work-related problems constructively and recommend measures to improve productivity and quality of results.
• Possibility of traveling to other SGS mineral laboratories in Canada or abroad as part of short-term or long-term assignments within a strategic initiative.
• If necessary, be assigned to special or one-time projects and coordinate them as needed.
