Migration Manager – DataPower Replacement (m/f/d)

As Migration Manager, you will take end-to-end responsibility for the replacement of an existing IBM DataPower environment. You will plan and manage the entire migration process, coordinate internal and external stakeholders, and ensure that affected interfaces and services are migrated to the new platform in a controlled manner.

With your organizational talent, technical understanding, and clear communication, you will ensure that dependencies are identified early, decisions are made in a timely manner, and migration goals are reliably achieved.

• You will be responsible for planning and managing the DataPower replacement from preparation to successful completion.
• You will develop a realistic migration strategy and structure the implementation into suitable migration waves.
• You will coordinate cross-functional teams as well as internal and external partners across various specialist and technology areas.
• You will manage priorities, backlogs, sprints, and delivery plans, and ensure transparency regarding progress, risks, and dependencies.
• You will prepare decisions in a structured manner and ensure clear communication with all relevant stakeholders.
• You will accompany tests, cutover, and hypercare, and ensure a controlled transition to the new platform.

• Creation and ongoing maintenance of the overarching migration, wave, and delivery plan.
• Coordination of the migration of affected APIs, interfaces, and services to the new integration platform.
• Management of the involved project teams, business units, platform owners, and external service providers.
• Setup and maintenance of the Jira backlog as well as prioritization and planning of upcoming work packages.
• Planning and moderation of workshops, coordination meetings, reviews, and decision-making appointments.
• Identification, assessment, and active management of risks, issues, and dependencies.
• Monitoring of deadlines, resources, budget, and agreed-upon deliverables.
• Creation of status reports, decision-making bases, and management updates.
• Planning and coordination of test phases, cutover activities, and hypercare.
• Support of organizational and technical change management during the migration.
• Ensuring complete and traceable project and migration documentation.

• Several years of experience in project, program, or migration management in a demanding ICT environment.
• Demonstrable experience in planning and managing complex migrations or technology replacements.
• Very good knowledge of agile methodologies, especially Scrum, backlog management, and sprint and delivery planning.
• Experience with Jira or comparable planning and management tools.
• In-depth experience in stakeholder management and coordination of cross-functional teams.
• Experience in managing external service providers and technology partners.
• Confidence in handling risks, issues, dependencies, budgets, and resources.
• Technical understanding of API, integration, and platform environments.
• A structured, self-reliant, and results-oriented work approach.
• Strong communication, moderation, and presentation skills at specialist and management levels.
• Very good German language skills, both spoken and written.

• Experience with IBM DataPower or comparable API gateway and integration platforms.
• Experience with SAP Integration Suite, especially in the area of API Management and Cloud Integration.
• Experience with the replacement or modernization of middleware and legacy platforms.
• Knowledge of modern API management, cloud, and container platforms.
• Experience with extensive migration wave plans and parallel migration streams.
• Experience in planning and executing complex cutover scenarios.
• Knowledge in the areas of test management, release management, and hypercare.
• Good English language skills, both spoken and written.
• Certifications in project management or agile methods, e.g., IPMA, PMI, PRINCE2, SAFe or Scrum.
