About Our Client

Our client is an internationally active industrial supplier to the mobility industry, headquartered in the Greater Kassel area. The company is growing on a very solid order basis and is now making BI and Analytics its own focus.

Why This Role

You are the first person responsible for BI and Analytics in the company. The platform is set: Microsoft Fabric and Power BI, with SAP as the most important data source. The data basis is still patchy, and knowledge of BI is only just growing within the organization. You will build both.

• Because you will shape the BI landscape from the very beginning and your decisions will have lasting impact.

• Because you will be directly connected to IT management and your results will be visible throughout the company.

• Because experimentation is part of a startup phase, and experienced IT management will give you support.

Your Responsibilities

• You will build the BI landscape on Microsoft Fabric: data connection, primarily from SAP, Lakehouse or Warehouse, as well as pipelines and dataflows.

• You will develop central, reusable data models in Power BI, on which further reports will be based.

• You will create the first basic reports for the business departments.

• You will establish report governance: workspaces, certified data models, naming conventions, permissions, and deployment.

• You will identify gaps in data quality and resolve them in collaboration with the business departments.

• You will gather requirements, bring stakeholders together, and set priorities.

• You will empower business departments for self-service with clear guidelines and show colleagues how to structure a department and an analysis.

For context: Your focus is on Analytics and Engineering, i.e., on data connection, data models, reports, and governance. You will implement yourself and clarify requirements directly with the business departments. Data Science and Machine Learning play a minor role in this startup phase.

What You Bring

• A degree in (Business) Informatics, Mathematics, Statistics, or Business Administration, or a comparable qualification with relevant professional experience

• Sound practical experience with Power BI from two to three years or more: Power Query, DAX, and data modeling

• Initial experience with Microsoft Fabric, such as with Lakehouse, Data Factory, or Dataflows Gen2, as well as confident handling of SQL

• Experience in setting up or expanding BI solutions within your own company, ideally even as the sole person responsible for the topic in a smaller organization

• Enjoyment in clarifying requirements with business departments and passing on knowledge

• Very good German and good English for collaboration with international locations

• Advantageous: Understanding of SAP data (ECC or S/4HANA) as well as certifications such as PL-300, DP-600, or DP-700
