Metrology Technician / Quality Engineer (m/f/d) – CMM & Quality Assurance

Full Time Entry Level

Job description

Key Role in Building Quality Assurance at a New Production Site - Hamburg, Harburg
High Degree of Design Freedom in Metrology, Inspection Planning, and QA Structures

You will be responsible for complete metrology and quality assurance at the Hamburg site – from CMM programming and first article inspection to the analysis of deviations and audit preparation.

You will build the QA structures from the ground up, define inspection and measurement strategies, and ensure that quality data flows directly back into production. A hands-on role with a lot of personal responsibility: you will program, measure, evaluate, and release parts yourself.

Benefits

  • Key role in building quality assurance at a new production site

  • High degree of design freedom in metrology, inspection planning, and QA structures

  • Work with modern CMM metrology and sophisticated precision parts

  • Direct influence on production quality, process stability, and release processes

  • Close collaboration with machining, CAM programming, and engineering

  • International corporate environment with locations in Germany, Great Britain, and the USA

  • Option for equity participation in a growing group of companies

Responsibilities

  • Programming, optimization, and maintenance of CMM inspection programs, e.g., in PC-DMIS or Zeiss Calypso

  • Execution of first article inspections, incoming goods inspections, in-process inspections, and final inspections

  • Evaluation of complex parts according to technical drawings, GD&T, and ISO-GPS

  • Definition of measurement strategies, reference systems, clamping concepts, and inspection procedures

  • Analysis of measurement data and derivation of measures for dimensional, form, and positional deviations

  • Release of parts and direct feedback to production, machining, and CAM

  • Monitoring, calibration, and management of measuring instruments and test equipment

  • Development and maintenance of inspection plans, FAI documentation, and quality records

  • Participation in EN 9100 / ISO 9001-compliant processes and audit preparations

  • Further development of internal quality assurance, including digital use of measurement and quality data

Profile

  • Several years of practical experience in CMM programming, 3D metrology, or industrial quality assurance

  • Suitable background as a Metrology Technician (m/f/d), Quality Engineer (m/f/d), Quality Inspector (m/f/d), or in a comparable role

  • Proficient in the use of PC-DMIS, Zeiss Calypso, or comparable CMM software

  • Experience in precision manufacturing, CNC machining, precision mechanics, or similar production environments

  • Very good knowledge of drawing interpretation, GD&T, form and positional tolerances, and ISO GPS

  • Routine in measuring tight tolerances, including in the range of ±0.01 mm and below

  • Practical experience with coordinate measuring machines (CMM), hand measuring tools, gauges, and other inspection methods

  • Knowledge of FAI, EN 9102, AS9102, SPC, or process capability analyses is a plus

  • Structured, analytical approach to work with a focus on root cause analysis and process improvement

  • Good English skills for collaboration in an international environment
