CTC is looking for a Breeder to join our Sugarcane Genetic Improvement R&D team.

This professional will be responsible for leading the development of new elite sugarcane varieties, conducting breeding strategies that boost genetic gains and contribute to the continuous evolution of CTC's Breeding Program.

They will act as the technical reference for the Breeding HUB, being responsible for planning, conducting, and directing pipeline breeding activities, ensuring alignment with the company's strategic objectives and promoting sustainable results in the short, medium, and long term.

They will also be responsible for developing and implementing advanced genetic improvement strategies, integrating traditional approaches with Precision Breeding technologies, using genetic, phenotypic, and statistical data to support decision-making and accelerate the development of new varieties.

They will work in an integrated manner with multidisciplinary teams, contributing to the program's continuous innovation, scientific excellence, and the generation of high-impact solutions for sugarcane cultivation.

Knowledge and Skills

• Plant Genetic Improvement.
• Quantitative Genetics.
• Experiment planning, execution, and analysis.
• Statistical Analysis applied to Breeding.
• Parent, population, and clone selection strategies.
• Plant phenotyping technologies.
• Knowledge of sugarcane cultivation, including management, pests, and diseases.
• Intermediate English for reading scientific literature and technical interaction.

Education

• Master's degree in Genetic Improvement, Plant Science, or related fields.
• Doctorate in Genetic Improvement, Plant Science, or related fields.
