Mid-Level Software Engineer

As a Mid-Level Software Engineer, you will work within one of our product teams on reliable and scalable software. You will independently tackle technical issues, contribute to finding the best solutions, and be involved in the entire development process: from understanding the problem to building, testing, and maintaining the solution.

You will collaborate closely with other Engineers, Product Owners, and colleagues from the business. You will have the freedom to make technical choices, propose new ideas, and further develop yourself.

What will you do?

As a Mid-Level Software Engineer, you will work on digital products that directly contribute to the growth of BAS World. You will not only write code but also actively contribute to how we can improve our software and processes.

You will work within one of our five product pillars: Operations, Parts & Tyres, Buyer, Seller, or Platform Engineering. Together with your team, you will develop solutions that add value for our customers and colleagues.

Your responsibilities:

• You will design, develop, and maintain scalable and reliable software;

• You will independently handle new functionalities and technical issues, from analysis to implementation and management;

• You will collaborate with Product Owners, Engineers, and colleagues from the business to translate customer needs into technical solutions;

• You will contribute during the discovery phase, investigate different solution directions, and test ideas with prototypes where necessary;

• You will write readable, testable, and maintainable code and contribute to the quality, security, and reliability of our software;

• You will perform code reviews, collaborate through pair programming, and actively share knowledge with colleagues;

• You will investigate and resolve incidents and contribute to structural solutions;

• You will identify technical improvement opportunities and experiment with new technologies and modern engineering tools.

You will be given the freedom to work on solutions independently, but you will never be alone. You will learn from experienced colleagues, share your own knowledge, and work together on products that are used worldwide daily.

Your specifications

We are looking for a Software Engineer who can work independently, enjoys tackling technical challenges, and looks beyond just writing code.

What do you bring?

• You have experience as a Software Engineer and can independently develop new functionalities and technical solutions;

• You take responsibility for your work, from design to reliable operation in production;

• You write readable, testable, and maintainable code;

• You contribute to technical decisions and can clearly explain your ideas and solutions;

• You enjoy collaborating with colleagues, are open to feedback, and actively share your knowledge;

• You are curious about new technologies and enjoy contributing to improvements;

• You work at least four days a week from our office in Veghel, allowing you to collaborate closely with your team.

Additionally, you have experience with several of the following technologies and methodologies:

• PHP, Laravel, and/or other modern frontend and backend technologies;

• Cloud-native software development, preferably within AWS;

• APIs, data exchange, and distributed systems;

• CI/CD, automated testing, and databases;

• Software architecture, observability, security, and scalability.

You don't have to be an expert in everything. What's most important to us is that you have a solid technical foundation, can work independently, and are motivated to develop yourself further.
