As a mid-level developer/administrator, you will work with professionals who ensure the continuity, security, and further development of critical ICT services daily.

Within the Joint IV Command (JIVC), thousands of IT professionals work daily on the development, maintenance, and security of Defence ICT. You will work within the COC2 and I&V department. Within the department, work is being done on a data platform that supports the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee in its operational tasks related to investigation and enforcement, to be there when it matters. So that the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee can better safeguard the security of the Netherlands and the Caribbean part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. As a mid-level developer/administrator, you will contribute to the transformation and modernization of a data platform. This is an environment where reliability, security, and continuity are paramount and where the impact of disruptions is directly noticeable in operations. High demands are placed on security with principles such as zero-trust and defence-in-depth.

As a mid-level developer/administrator at the COC2/I&V department, you will be responsible, together with your fellow developers, from the administrator role for translating concrete development activities, connecting new streaming/sensor sources in a technically challenging environment into a manageable end product. This is based on the DevOps philosophy of 'building, managing, and further developing'. You combine a solid background in IT architectures and managing data solutions with the skills to achieve maximum results together with your team members. You dare to take initiative and actively seek collaboration with others.
We are looking for a mid-level developer/administrator who helps people grow, is analytically strong, maintains an overview in a complex environment, and wants to contribute to further professionalization within JIVC.

What we ask

We are looking for a mid-level developer/administrator who is analytically and communicatively strong, with extensive experience in integrations with other systems. You are a team player, take initiative to get things done, and enjoy collaborating with other stakeholders (within and outside the department).

Furthermore, you have:

• HBO or WO work and thinking level, preferably in the direction of Computer Science, Business IT & Management, Information Management, or a comparable education;
• At least 3 years of demonstrable experience as a mid-level developer within a dynamic cloud-native IT environment;
• Demonstrable technical knowledge of Windows and Linux environments, containers and cloud platforms, Kubernetes, Apache Pulsar, Infra-as-code, Helm charts, monitoring & logging tools (Grafana, Prometheus, etc.), and ZooKeeper/BookKeeper;
• At least 3 years of demonstrable experience in managing, maintaining, and further developing complex IT systems, streaming data, and source integration;
• Demonstrable experience working in multidisciplinary teams within an Agile/SAFe work environment;
• Experience with organizational change, team development, and professionalization of work methods;
• Good command of the Dutch and English languages.

A VGB A screening is mandatory for working within I&V.

Department Description

The Joint Information Provision Command (JIVC) is the IV/ICT service provider within Defence. From this organization, we support Defence units with reliable and secure IT solutions.

You will work at the COC2 and I&V department. This department develops, manages, and supports systems for the Intelligence & Security domain and the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee. These are environments where information is collected, processed, and shared, and where reliability, security, and continuity are essential. Within the department, you will work in the Datastream development team in Utrecht.
