Mid-Level AI Engineer

Building an AI model is one thing. Ensuring it runs reliably, is connected to real data, and adds value for a customer: that's where it gets interesting.

At adesso, you'll work on AI solutions that go beyond experiments, from machine learning and MLOps to generative AI, LLMs, and agents. You will build, implement, and improve solutions that organizations actually use.

What will you do?

As a Mid-Level AI Engineer, you will collaborate with senior AI Engineers and Forward Deployed Engineers on client projects. You will independently handle parts of projects and grow in architecture and end-to-end responsibility.

• AI Development: you will build ML models, LLM applications, and agentic workflows.

• From idea to production: you will build data and ML pipelines, automate deployments, and ensure monitoring and reliability.

• Smart Integration: you will connect AI to existing systems, APIs, and cloud and data platforms.

• Collaborate with the client: you will translate challenges into practical, scalable solutions.

• Knowledge Sharing: you will document reusable patterns and share what you learn with your colleagues.

Projects that go beyond the model

We focus on retail and e-commerce, finance, and utilities. Think of:

• Forecasts that planners can rely on for decision-making, from retail assortment to grid load.

• Intelligent document processing, such as KYC files or inspection reports, with traceable sources.

• Agents that prepare work in customer service and back office, with evaluations and guardrails.

• Computer vision, for example in the fitness industry, where we recognize unsafe situations in unmanned 24/7 locations.

The challenge lies not only in the model itself but also in reliability, integration, and practical application. You will always choose the technology that suits the problem.

What do you bring?

• Experience with developing and bringing ML or GenAI solutions into production.

• Good knowledge of Python, SQL, and machine learning.

• Experience with MLOps and/or LLMs, RAG, and AI agents.

• Knowledge of at least one cloud platform (Azure, AWS, or GCP) and a data platform such as Databricks, Snowflake, or Fabric.

• You work with coding agents and critically evaluate their output.

• You think from the client's perspective and clearly explain technical choices.

• You are fluent in both spoken and written Dutch and English.

What this is NOT

• Not individual secondment. You work on projects on behalf of adesso, with a team supporting you.

• Not a notebook graveyard. A model is only finished when it is in production and being used.

• Not GenAI just because it can be. Sometimes a classic model is better, sometimes an LLM; you choose what fits.

• Not on-call work. You contribute from the initial client request, not just when the design is already fixed.

The team

You will become part of our AI Engineering team: AI engineering consultants in two roles. The Forward Deployed AI Engineer (FDE) owns the client problem and designs the solution, including the agentic architecture. You, as an AI Engineer, will go in-depth on development, data, MLOps, and scaling, and will contribute from the client's request on the right approach.

You will have the space to shape your own work, but you will never be solely responsible for all specialties.

• €4,950–€6,050 gross per month based on 40 hours
