Media Technician (m/w/d)

Full Time Entry Level

Job description

A renowned cultural institution with international impact and a clear focus on contemporary art is seeking a media technician. With a demanding exhibition program, a unique collection, and high social relevance, the institution has established itself as a significant location for art, discourse, and cultural participation. As a non-profit institution, it combines artistic excellence with economic stability and is being further developed by an engaged leadership team.

To strengthen the team, we are looking for a personality who not only implements media technical solutions but also actively shapes them.

Tasks

• Planning, implementation, and maintenance of media technical installations in exhibitions

• Technical realization of video, audio, and lighting concepts in close cooperation with artists and curators

• Setting up, equipping, and maintaining AV technology like projectors, monitors, media systems, and sound solutions

• Technical support for complex media art projects, often individually and project-specific

• Error analysis, maintenance, and continuous optimization of the technology used during the duration of exhibitions

• Documentation of technical set-ups and ensuring sustainable and transparent solutions

• Collaboration with internal interfaces like exhibition construction, electrical engineering, and other technical departments

• Participation in the technical development of exhibition and collection formats

• Co-responsibility for the organization and maintenance of technical inventory

• Support during setup and teardown of exhibitions, as well as occasional readiness for flexible deployments in ongoing operations

Qualification

• Completed education or degree in media technology, event technology, electrical engineering, or a comparable qualification

• Several years of practical experience in handling AV technology; experiences in the exhibition, museum, or cultural sector are advantageous

• Good technical understanding for complex, individual installations and special solutions

• Enjoyment of working with artists and creative, non-standardized processes

• Hands-on mentality and a structured and solution-oriented working style

• Teamwork ability and the ability to quickly adapt to changing requirements and projects

• Good English skills for collaboration with international artists

• Willingness to flexible working hours in the context of exhibition setup and teardown, as well as occasional technical support during ongoing exhibitions
