Medical Technologist - Massena Hospital

Job Title: Medical Technologist Department: Laboratory Services Location: Massena Hospital Hours Per Week: 40 scheduled weekly hours Schedule: 8 hour shifts SUMMARY: As a member of the professional medical team, accurately performs clinical laboratory analyses and examinations by approved department procedures on blood, urine, body fluids and tissues within a published turn around time using a variety of instruments and methods to assist in physician diagnosis and treatment. They are expected to maintain accurate and detailed records of all tests performed, and to participate in quality control and quality assurance activities. They will also be responsible for maintaining a clean and organized work environment, and for adhering to all safety protocols and procedures. The Medical Technologist will also be expected to participate in continuing education and professional development activities to stay current with new technologies and techniques. REQUIREMENTS: High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate's degree in medical technology or related field preferred. One year of experience in a clinical laboratory setting preferred. Must be certified as a Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) by a recognized accrediting agency. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods of time. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively. Must be able to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
