Job description

Do you want to contribute to the training and education of air defenders by developing and managing modern digital learning resources? As an Air Defence Training Support (ADTS) Officer, you will work at the intersection of ICT, multimedia, simulation, and education. You will ensure that instructors and trainees have reliable, up-to-date, and innovative digital support resources.

Within the Training and Education Center for Ground-Based Air and Missile Defense (OTC GLRV), you will be responsible for developing, managing, and improving Computer Based Training (CBT) lessons, digital learning environments, and supporting applications. You will translate learning objectives into interactive and user-friendly digital solutions, thereby directly contributing to the quality of education and training within the DGLC.

Your tasks include, but are not limited to:

• developing, testing, adapting, and maintaining Computer Based Training (CBT) lessons;
• developing and managing a digital learning environment (currently Virtual Instruction Environment (Defense) VIO(D)/VIO and will become DELTA), digital learning resources, and e-learning;
• programming, testing, and maintaining computer applications used within CBT lessons;
• managing and maintaining the functionality of the ADTS network;
• supporting users with digital training resources and simulation environments;
• giving demonstrations and internal instructions.

You will work on various digital learning solutions, such as the aircraft recognition e-learning. Here, you will monitor and manage users, user groups, and content. For new developments, you will collaborate with developers on both the technical backend and the user interface (frontend), where you will test, provide feedback, and implement improvements.

Furthermore, you will play an important role in the further development of digital learning and training resources. You will research new possibilities in the field of innovative technologies such as Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), and Mixed Reality (XR).

Within this role, you will have ample room for initiative. You will identify areas for improvement, contribute ideas for new possibilities, and translate technical developments into practical applications for education and training.

Job requirements

You possess an MBO (vocational secondary education) degree in an ICT field, such as ICT management or a comparable education. You have experience with programming and network management and are interested in applying technical knowledge within an educational environment.

• Knowledge and experience with developing digital learning resources or Computer Based Training;
• Experience with programming and developing applications;
• Knowledge of web technologies and programming languages, such as HTML and Javascript.
• Knowledge and experience with Microsoft applications;
• Photography and videography and their editing (Adobe Photoshop and Premiere)
• Experience with network management and maintaining the functionality of ICT environments;
• The ability to analyze technical issues and develop practical solutions;
• A creative mindset and interest in new technologies;
• Accuracy and an eye for quality;
• Good communication skills and a customer-oriented attitude.

You enjoy tackling issues independently, but also enjoy working collaboratively with colleagues and users. As you will regularly share knowledge with the other ADTS officer and provide support to users, collaboration is an important part of the role.

Other employment conditions

Defense offers good secondary employment conditions. From 2025, defense personnel will no longer receive holiday pay and year-end bonuses as separate payments; instead, they will accrue these monthly through the Individual Choice Budget (IKB). The IKB for defense personnel amounts to a total of 16.33 percent of their salary. With the IKB, defense personnel can decide for themselves when, on what, and how much budget they spend on time, money, or fiscal facilities. This can be up to the monthly accrued budget.

The IKB can be used for:

• A maximum of 15 percent of the salary can be used monthly for the exchange of commuting allowances;
• The monthly difference between the contribution towards commuting costs and the fiscal maximum;
• A bicycle for personal use, including bicycle accessories and bicycle insurance;
• A computer that can also be used for work or study, including computer accessories and computer insurance;
• A battery or electrical parts for a bicycle;
• The payment of union membership fees.
• Defense expects to further expand the possibilities of the IKB in the future.
• Secondary employment conditions include, among other things, up to 75% paid parental leave (under certain conditions), study facilities, extensive sports facilities, an additional leave arrangement for older employees, and a commuting allowance.

Specifics

A security screening (VGB) is part of the application process.

It is mandatory for you, as a civilian applicant, to have Dutch nationality. The ability to provide a Certificate of Conduct (VOG) is a prerequisite for appointment. Additionally, a security screening and reference check may be part of the selection procedure. This involves a background check on criminal records and financial matters, which takes an average of 8 weeks.
