Mechanic/Mechatronist for Test Workshop Medical Technology (m/w/d)

Job description

This position is part of the Advanced Surgery business unit at Novanta. WOM specializes in the field of minimally invasive medicine and develops devices and accessories to enable surgeons to operate with small incisions. We produce cameras, insufflators, medical pumps, and tubes that facilitate diagnosis and treatment for all. Our insufflators and pump systems expand body cavities and make previously complex operations into small procedures. Together with customers, doctors, and technical experts, our teams continuously seek new ways for innovations.

Tasks

Tasks Department

Main tasks:

  • Ensuring the safe readiness of all mechanical machines and tools
  • Collaboration in developing new devices, particularly making prototype parts and mechanical assemblies
  • Reviewing technical drawings regarding manufacturability and production costs
  • Annual planning for maintenance service, consumable materials, and new acquisitions in the workshop
  • Management and procurement of raw materials and semi-finished products for model building

Specific tasks:

  • Building components for medical technology devices
  • Assembling components for test equipment
  • Preliminary work and collaboration in functional prototype building and prototype construction
  • Supporting the creation of assembly instructions
  • Development of test setups for mechanical component tests – identifying weaknesses and developing solutions

Qualification

Requirements Profile Professionally

  • At least 5 years of professional experience in mechanical manufacturing
  • Very good knowledge of mechanical manufacturing processes (turning/milling/drilling)
  • Able to interpret and implement technical drawings and plans
  • Good knowledge of materials science (metals/plastics/adhesives)
  • Knowledge in device construction
  • Mind basic knowledge in electrical engineering
  • Good English skills
  • Good German language skills are absolutely required
