Job description

Reliability Engineer - Mechanical

As an experienced Reliability Engineer Mechanical, this role provides you with the opportunity to utilise your reliability expertise to optimise performance across a diverse range of assets. You'll be embedded within our client's team in Perth, working one-on-one to facilitate risk assessments and develop maintenance strategies. While this begins as a 3-month contract to meet immediate project needs, there is a strong potential for this to transition into a permanent position for the right candidate as our client looks to secure a long-term team member.

We are a small but established team. We operate Australia-wide and can offer you career development in innovative and exciting new projects. We remove the politics so you can get on doing what you do best!

Why You'll Like Working With Us
  • Supportive Environment: "I love that the support is always in the background... it provides a remarkable difference to my ability to perform to a higher more innovative standard."
  • Values Driven: We are community focused and provide support locally.
  • Flexibility: Small things count! You'll be given the flexibility to experience life - you'll never miss your kid's school concert or your dog's vet appointment.
  • Return to Work Support: We've developed a Return-to-Work Scheme which is highly supportive technically, psychologically, and socially to help you thrive.

What Makes This Role Different?
If you are still reading this job advert then you already know what a Mechanical Reliability Engineer does, but here's what makes this role different.
  • Risk & Strategy: Facilitate risk assessments and develop robust maintenance strategies to ensure asset integrity.
  • Data-Driven Insights: Use statistics and data modelling to interpret trends, focusing on key metrics such as MTBF, MTTR, and OEE.
  • Reliability Toolkit: Apply advanced tools including FMECA, RCA, and Fault Tree/Herringbone analysis to solve complex mechanical issues.
  • Real-World Impact: Work within a project management structure where you don't just "consult"—you see the products of your work realised in the field.

What You Bring
  • Knowledge: Undergraduate qualifications in Mechanical Engineering or similar.
  • Skills: Risk fundamentals - a solid understanding of risk including how to facilitate risk assessments.
  • Assets: Significant reliability experience in mechanical and rotating equipment environments (Manufacturing plant, Terminal operations, Some mining processing plants, Large mining equipment).
  • Technical Skills: Expert-level proficiency in reliability fundamentals (maintenance strategy development, statistics and data modelling, reporting & analysis, and Reliability tools (FMECA, RCA, Fault Tree/Herringbone Analysis or similar fault-finding processes).
  • Safety Focus: A non-negotiable commitment to safety in every aspect of your engineering practice.
  • Mindset: You are a safety-focused problem solver who thrives in collaborative teams, bringing a project-oriented approach to seeing your work through to completion and—ideally—the perspective of having previously been a 'customer' of reliability engineering outputs yourself.
  • Facilitation: You will know how to get the most and the best from those you're working with. Collaboration and facilitation are key to the success of the Reliability Engineers role.
  • Nice to have: If you currently or have held a MSIC (Maritime Security Identification Card) please mention this in your application.

Position Details
  • Location: North Fremantle, WA.
  • Duration: Initial 3-month contract with a view to permanency for the right candidate.
  • Hours: 40 hours per week nominal.
  • Hourly rate: $75-$100 per hour plus GST (dependant on what you can bring to this role).
