Mechanical Lead - Industrial and Data Center Projects

Job Description

We are seeking a Mechanical Lead with proven experience in industrial-grade MEP coordination to oversee mechanical installations and systems integration for data center construction projects. This role ensures all mechanical systems comply with technical specifications, safety standards, and national and international regulations while driving contractor performance and installation quality on-site.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Oversight

  • Lead reviews of mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, and automation systems to ensure compliance with project specifications and relevant codes (Mexican and international).
  • Analyze and validate construction drawings, technical documentation, and contractor scopes across HVAC, piping, and mechanical systems.
  • Supervise on-site mechanical works and conduct inspections to verify installation quality and conformance to design.
  • Guide pre-commissioning and commissioning planning and execution, ensuring readiness and operational performance of all mechanical systems.

Contractor Monitoring & Reporting

  • Monitor contractor qualifications and craftsmanship, providing recommendations for improvement where needed.
  • Evaluate contractor bids, participate in bid leveling, and support vendor selection aligned with project requirements.
  • Prepare and present detailed reports covering site progress, technical evaluations, and risk mitigation.

Project Coordination

  • Actively support schedule development (WBS, milestones, cost estimates), working closely with planning teams.
  • Facilitate design reviews, contribute to value engineering efforts, and manage interface planning with existing systems or buildings.
  • Maintain close coordination with client operations to plan system shutdowns and avoid construction interference.

Quality & Safety

  • Define and review quality plans, participate in safety audits, and ensure best practices are followed during equipment installation and testing.
  • Lead risk analysis and contribute to updating the project risk matrix related to mechanical scope.
  • Ensure application of LEED standards where applicable and support sustainability objectives.
