Mechanical Foreman

Job description

A well established mining client based in the that designs, manufactures, supplies and services an alternative drilling mining systems, are looking to expand their team and employ a Mechanical Foreman with Mining experience based in the North West. The successful candidate will be responsible to support and maintain one or multiple mining sites. They will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance and repair of mining equipment and ensuring that site is able to operate safely and efficiently. If this sound like you apply now!

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee the maintenance and repair of all mining equipment
  • Oversee all equipment installations on surface and underground.
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules and procedures to ensure equipment is kept in good working order.
  • Conduct regular inspections (Surface & Underground) of all equipment to identify and address any potential problems before they cause downtime.
  • Ensure that mining crews are trained to operate equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Monitor equipment performance and provide feedback and coaching as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities and equipment performance.
  • Ensure that all maintenance and repair work is carried out in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance of site including , health & safety, equipment and employees.
  • Ensure effective asset management.
  • Management of all critical and consumable spares.
  • Manage the compliment and competence of staff
  • Oversee all on site personal and functions.

Requirements:

  • Matric
  • National Diploma/ Degree in Mechanical Engineering,
  • Alternatively Red Seal (Trade Tested: Millwright, Fitter, Electrician: preferably expertise in at least two trades) know electricity and mechanical
  • 5+ years of experience in a similar maintenance role on a mine.
  • Must have experience managing maintenance teams.
  • Experience in training management of employees and mining crews.
  • Prior experience in asset management.
  • Proven track record in project management, specifically in engineering and maintenance projects on a mine.
  • Expertise in optimizing Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE)
  • Proficiency in risk management, including identifying and mitigating risks through Preventive Maintenance (PPM)
  • Technical understanding of various maintenance methodologies and mining standards
  • Experience in compiling Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and reporting structures
  • Valid Medical Certificate or medically fit to work underground
  • No criminal record
