Job description
Ready to help shape the future of AI at the edge?
At AI-Blox, we build high-performance, modular hardware for edge AI applications. As we continue to grow, we’re looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team and to solve complex challenges around thermal management, part integration, and durability for our hardware products.
Your MissionHow you'll make an impact:
- Design and develop mechanical enclosures and internal layouts for electronic products
- Select and integrate thermal components such as heatsinks, fans, and thermal interface materials
- Create detailed 3D CAD models, 2D drawings, and BOMs for prototyping and manufacturing
- Validate and optimize designs through hands-on testing, iteration, and continuous improvement
- Perform tolerance analysis and simulate airflow, thermal, and structural performance using CFD/FEA tools
- Drive design reviews and support testing for certification, reliability, and environmental protection
- Contribute to sustainable product development by considering material choices, energy efficiency, and design for longevity and recyclability
- Work directly with suppliers — especially during prototyping — to align on design feasibility, material selection, and manufacturing processes
- Collaborate closely with electronics engineers, product designers, and international suppliers to ensure seamless system integration
Requirements
What makes you a great fit:
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
- At least 5 years of experience in mechanical design — ideally in electronics, embedded systems, or industrial/consumer products
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., Fusion 360, SolidWorks, Siemens NX)
- Experience with simulation tools for thermal, airflow, and structural analysis
- Solid understanding of mechanical design principles, materials, tolerances, and DFM best practices
- Familiarity with integrating electronics, designing for IP and EMI requirements, and working with environmental constraints
- Comfortable with lab testing and real-world validation
- A hands-on mindset and experience with prototyping and iterative design
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative, solution-driven approach
- Fluency in English; Dutch is a plus
Benefits
On top of a competitive salary, we offer:
- 32 vacation days (including 12 additional leave days)
- Healthcare benefits (through Alan)
- Group Insurance
- Meal vouchers
